Evolution of an Outfit

Yes, it’s been nearly two weeks since the last time I wrote anything. I blame it on my children. Every time I take a picture of an outfit, they give me a hard time, as in, “mom, you take more selfies than my friends and I do.” And, since summer vacation started a couple of weeks ago, they’re always home.

Actually, Michael has offered to take my pictures for me. He says I need to spice up my fashion pictures and make them more interesting. So he took this one:

He thought it would be more interesting from an angle. (Free People shirt, Target shoes.)

Anyway, here’s an outfit I wore recently. Wasn’t sure how well it worked so kept changing it. First, Vince pants, Free People shirt, and the sandals I’ve written about before. Disclaimer: the pictures aren’t great, plus I cropped them because my hair was seriously a mess. Please try to ignore the unmade bed and unfolded laundry in the background…

Then Lizzie told me it looked too dark for summer, and I sort of agreed, so I changed my shirt.

Then the shoes looked too dark, so I changed to white sandals.

Then I thought I looked too matchy with white shirt and white shoes, but Lizzie assured me it was the best iteration of the outfit. What do you think?

The Vince pants are awesome. Beautiful fabric, feel like they’ll last forever, and fit perfectly. My mom bought them for me for my birthday… Which is in August. Here’s another outfit with the same pants.

Here are the Vince pantson sale from $220 down to $129. This is all they have left. Mine are in army green.

Okay, here’s another reason I haven’t written in so long. I get very involved and write forever.

Thanks! I will try to update more often. I like the white shirt with the drapey sweater, too. I like that sweater with everything!

Okay — first of all, I LOVE the title of this post. Sucked me right in! Second I think it’s really hard to assess the success (say that three times fast!) of an outfit without your head! That white top looks really blocky but I think with your head it would be better. I actually like the first iteration the best — sometimes dark pants with a white, white top is too startling for me. I think my favorite is the last one with the drapey sweater over the white. I’ve missed hearing about your journey — come back soon!
