Yes or No: ‘Rompers’

Remember when I wrote about jumpsuits? Well…

I shopped with my sister-in-law a few days ago. We went to the store where I bought my favorite black lace shorts, Tula (that’s the name of the store, not the name of my shorts;I don’t name my clothes…). Carmen got a pair of Current and Elliott jeans — my brother and I talked her into buying a really good pair and they looked awesome on her — and a cute black tunic. Anyway, I tried on a bunch of stuff, including what I thought was called a jumpsuit but is apparently called a romper these days.

So, Carmen liked the romper. At least she said she did. I thought it looked adorable. So did the saleswoman, but maybe she was just trying to sell me. But she didn’t say it about the other things I tried on. Anyway, I bought it. BUT when the rest of my family saw it, they all laughed at me. Paul and my brother Matt — well, I don’t remember what they said exactly but it wasn’t flattering. Lizzie told me this: “Mom, I love you so much, but you have to return that. You can’t wear it.”

Well, Carmen said the guys just weren’t used to clothes like that and assured me it looked good. I think she was enthusiastic about it, but maybe she was just trying to be nice. I decided to keep it. I wore it again the next day — and all of a sudden Paul was all hugging on me and telling me how adorable I looked and saying he loved the jumper… I mean romper.

A good friend of mine had her reservations when I told her about it, but said it “wasn’t bad” when she saw it. She suggested adding a wide belt. As I was leaving her house, she was looking at me critically and nodding her head, saying, “Yeah, I think… yeah.” Is that a yes or a no?

So, I don’t know. I don’t have any pictures of me wearing it yet, but it’s this jumpsuit … I mean romper.

As I was buying it, I asked the sales lady, “what brand is this, anyway?” And she answered (I shouldn’t have been surprised) that it’s Free People. Oh well.

I will take pictures tomorrow… Maybe with different belts, jackets, etc.

I think that’s the same JUMPSUIT I wore when I was out there. Exactly. Will NOT call it a romper bc that’s what babies wear. I wear mine with a greenish Michael Starr’s tank under and a denim shirt or jacket over depending on weather.

After I bought it, I was wondering if it was the same one you had. But when I looked at it last night, I noticed that the one I have has a slightly different pattern. Mine has flowers and more blue in it. I wish I had a picture of you in yours. Take one and send to me!

Loved the tunic. I might have to go back and get it. I just found the romper on zappos for $60 less than I paid. Grrrr!!
